Summary: The proposed MFF will support the development of run-of-river hydropower plant and transmission system facilities in the eastern region of Bhutan, with 442 MW capacity. The power generated from the plant can be supplied through the eastern grid network system for dual purposes of export and domestic consumption. To be developed as public private partnership. This project will be executed outside the scope of the projects that are identified to generate 10,000 MW by 2020. Once commissioned, the energy will meet domestic demand, and additional supply will be sold to India. The project will contribute to energy security and revenue for the government; promote economic growth and employment; and contribute toward climate change mitigation.
